CASTRO VALLEY
Pyzano’s Pizzeria – 3835 E Castro Valley Blvd. (510) 881-8878 – World Famous Pizza – and master pizza thrower. At the 580 Market Shopping center – 2 blocks away from West Coast Villa.
Jenny’s Café – 2836 Castro Valley Blvd., (510) 881-5887. Great breakfasts. Good sized portions for the money and made fresh for your order. Say hi to Jenny for us. It’s about 2 miles west of West Coast Villa on Castro Valley Blvd.
Doug’s Place – 20871 Redwood Rd., (in the Lucky’s Shopping Center), (510) 538-9155 – Good American food. Best for Breakfast. It’s a busy – and somewhat noisy place. Lots of food for the money.
Sazio Ristorante Italiano – 20400 Lake Chabot Rd., (510) 733-0788, It’s one of those hole in the wall places that surprises you. Two brothers-in-law own and operate this gem. Everyone we’ve heard from loves this little place. Travel from West Coast Villa and take the I-580 Freeway W to Strobridge. At the stop sign turn right, then turn right onto Castro Valley Blvd., Turn left on Lake Chabot Rd.,
Knudsen’s Ice Creamery and Chocolates – 3323 Castro Valley Blvd., (510) 582-2775. Make a meal of their ice cream creations. The food is okay, but the ice cream is irresistible. And if you have a really sweet tooth – you can take home some extra chocolates for later. From West Coast Villa you will want to turn right onto Castro Valley Blvd and it’s about 2 miles west on your left side.
Rudy’s Donuts – 3692 Castro Valley Blvd, (510) 889-1109, This old standby is a Castro Valley landmark. If you like donuts, Rudy’s has a good selection. Come early for the best and freshest donuts. From West Coast Villa, turn right and travel about 1 mile. It’s on the right.
HAYWARD
Val’s Burgers – 2115 Kelly St., Hayward (510) 889-8257. If you’re looking for an old fashioned diner that serves up thick, creamy milkshakes, thick French fries and delicious hamburgers you have to try Val’s. It’s not the cheapest place around, but you’ll definitely put on a few pounds at this place. If you want a trip down nostalgia lane, then you have to eat at Val’s. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays. From West Coast Villa, turn right onto Castro Valley Blvd to Center Street and turn left. Drive to the end of Center Street and turn left on Kelly. You’ll see Val’s on your right.

DUBLIN
Mimi’s Café – 4775 Hacienda Dr., (Hacienda Crossings Mall), Dublin, (925) 833-2521. Mimi’s is an upscale family style restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. It offers a good variety of food with mid range prices. We’ve always been satisfied and have never left hungry. From West Coast Villa turn left onto East Castro Valley Blvd and drive until you get to the I-580 freeway onramp (about a mile). Head east on I-580 freeway to the Hacienda exit North. You’ll see Mimi’s on your right.
SAN RAMON
In-N-Out Burger – 2270 San Ramon Valley Blvd,. San Ramon. Though it has a very limited menu – there’s always a line up for their burgers. They are always made fresh, always good, and a great value for a good burger. From West Coast Villa turn right onto Castro Valley Blvd. Turn right on Crow Canyon Road. It’s a few miles, so enjoy the scenery. When you see civilization again, turn left onto San Ramon Valley Blvd and you’ll see In N Out Burger on your right.
Uncle Yu’s Szechuan – 2005 Crow Canyon Pl #160, San Ramon, CA (925) 275-1818, You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the efficient and courteous service. This Chinese food restaurant is among the best in the area, but by no means the least expensive. You are paying for good food and good service in San Ramon. Although we prefer tea, I am told that the wine list that they offer puts them in one of the top 100 restaurants in the USA. This is an Amercanized version of Chinese food. It’s pricey for dinner – and fairly reasonable for lunch. From West Coast Villa take a right on Castro Valley Blvd, right on Crow Canyon Road. Cross over the I-680 Freeway and turn right on Crow Canyon Place.
They are building a new In-N-Out Burger in San Leandro / San Lorenzo. It is now OPEN.
